The challenge: manual reviews and no visibility
Nashville State’s transfer evaluation relied on manual review, with no fast way to trace individual faculty decisions.
When an equivalency was denied, records staff could not see it, so students risked defaulting to generic elective credit instead of a proper course match. Evaluation data also had to be keyed into Banner by hand at every step, which created room for error and slowed the SIS write-back.
The solution: a full deployment, not a pilot
Nashville State went live institution-wide with LioraAI Transfer Credit Intelligence, integrated with Ellucian Banner and Slate.
- Faculty visibility. Faculty and records staff see exactly which equivalency was denied and when, ending the guesswork that defaulted students to elective credit.
- Automated notifications. Email alerts go out when a course is ready for review, replacing manual tracking by records staff.
- Custom role management. Nashville State administrators create and manage their own LioraAI roles, with no EnlitEDU configuration step.
- Automatic Banner population. Equivalency data is written to Banner automatically, removing manual data entry from every SIS write-back.

In their own words
“Just did a transcript in 2 minutes that would’ve taken 15 under our current system. The advisor was able to meet the student where they are at and keep an advising appointment even though they turned their transcript at the last minute.”
Kevin Thomas, Nashville State Community College
“We just sent our 400th transcript to SIS from LioraAI!”
Kevin Thomas, Nashville State Community College, milestone message to the project team, August 18, 2026
“You are LITERALLY building the most advanced transcript articulation product on the planet right now. This. Is. Amazing.”
Alexis Pope, Nashville State Community College
The ability to see exactly which equivalency was denied, and when, was described internally as a game changer, because it keeps students in proper course credit instead of elective defaults.

Four lessons for higher education leaders
- Visibility drives equity. Making faculty decisions traceable means students aren’t defaulted to elective credit.
- Full deployment beats a pilot. Nashville State went institution-wide from day one, reflecting confidence built during testing.
- Automation plus human review. LioraAI recommends and staff approve. Manual entry dropped without removing human judgment.
- Partnership accelerates outcomes. Nashville State’s testing and feedback improved the product for every institution on the platform.
